Located in Morristown, New Jersey, The Peck School serves as a private day school with an enrollment of approximately 330 Kindergarten through eighth grade students. The school boasts a motto of “Disciplina ad Vivendum”– “Learning For Life.” The school hopes to build upon this, increasingly preparing students for their years beyond classroom education.
Through conceptual designs in the form of a master plan, KSQ established recommendations in order to reach the client’s goals, including the approach of taking down a building to open space for further alterations. With the school’s focus being on the STEAM model (science, technology, education, art, and math), KSQ has proposed plans geared towards fostering creativity and simultaneously preparing students for an increasingly global and technology-based world. These plans include the creation of a makerspace where students can gather to create, invent and learn. Other innovations would include the creation of a combined performance space and dining facility. The masterplan also includes space for new offices, playgrounds, and a student commons.
