KSQ Selected as Lead Design Firm for New Community Wellness and Health Innovation Hub at WCU

Western Carolina University (WCU) is adding a second building to its 344-acre Millennial Campus near Cullowhee, North Carolina. The project is part of WCU's Millennial Initiative and the space allows WCU faculty and staff to partner and collaborate with private firms, government agencies and non-profits, and to create and enhance economic development in the region. KSQ's Charlotte office is leading the project which fuses higher education and healthcare design. Here's a video tour of the design: https://youtu.be/UiNMXCPC784

The new building design visually complements the nearby LEED Gold Health and Human Science building and also re-brands the entrance to the campus. In addition to being a medical office building, the space will offer:

  • A health retail component
  • Kiosk and bistro food service areas
  • Flexible research space
  • Clinical space
  • Collaborative space with plug and play technology
As a Community Engaged University, WCU seeks to create and enhance economic development in the region and facilitate the development of a highly skilled, community oriented health workforce. KSQ is teamed with Brackett Flagship Properties and Tyler 2 Construction in this P3 partnership.     “We expect collaboration with partners in the medical office building to help meet the diverse needs of the community,” said Doug Keskula, Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences. “The collaboration will provide WCU students with hands-on, state-of-the-art educational opportunities, while offering professional practice and research opportunities to faculty members and clinical teaching opportunities for our partners.”
