KSQ Tulsa brings premier architect to the big screen

KSQ's Tulsa office is sponsoring a week-long run of "How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster?" –a film about renowned architect Norman Foster. The film debuts on Friday, December 5th, at Circle Cinema and KSQ staff will introduce the film during its opening weekend. Mr-FosterNorman Foster is known for projects such as: the largest building in the world (Beijing Airport), the tallest bridge ever built, the Hearst Building, and the iconic Apple campus. When KSQ'er Sailka Duran recommended the film and the discussion started with a private screening for staff, it only seemed right to go bigger for an architect who is known for such large scale projects. The private screening just had to turn into a week run of the film at a great local theater. Spanning from his humble beginnings to his lauded designs, the film keeps its focus on Foster's quest to improve quality of life through architecture. While on camera, Foster uses the film as an opportunity to offer solutions to the problems that arise due to macro population shifts from rural communities to a city-centric existence, which places heavy logistic demands on the design of urban areas. Beyond the global issues, though, the film offers unique views of his creations that one could never see without, well, without renting a private helicopter. The film has been ranked on ArchDaily's list of "30 Architecture Documentaries to Watch" and Flavorwire's "15 Essential Films About Famous Architects?"
