Kelly’s Corner is a 280,000 SF "new urbanism" mixed-use development in Acton, Mass. Located on the site of a former large chain store, the project seeks to reinvent the typical retail sprawl of big box shopping fronted with open parking into a walkable center linking together single family residential neighborhoods and school zones to encourage greater density and pedestrian accessibility.
The project combines 160 units of market rate housing with 15,000 sf of boutique retail space and a 25,000 square foot anchor tenant. The three to four story design is inspired by the New England area and the re-imagining of older industrial areas into new vibrant town centers. The street is kept intentionally narrow with street trees, benches and parking, and walk-up retail on either side.
