Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Charlotte, North Carolina, is hosting WEE HOUSE 2016: Places We Play. The interactive exhibit celebrates the places where we play and offers twelve unique structures designed by local creatives; including KSQ designer Stefan Pinherio.
The exhibit’s concept is based on children’s love of playhouses, treehouses and forts, and the ability of these structures to inspire creativity and exploration. Of course, adults refuse to give up their love of such structures as evident by the current treehouse and tiny house trends. Stefan couldn’t give up his love of such structures either and created one of the structures currently on display.
“This play house was designed both as an educational tool as well as a place of refuge. With the assortment of geometrically shaped windows, those same void forms are reflected on the ground to become solid podiums or seats. Kids mentally associate the solid and void shaped with connected colors.” ~ Stefan Pinherio
Daniel Stowe Botanicla Garden is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and until 9 p.m. on Thursdays. The Wee Houses will be on display until October 2nd, and then auctioned for charity. Learn more on the Garden’s website.
